My guess is that you didn’t know that saving money on college is all about Toasters and Tesla, but here is a test to prove it!
Say you want to buy a toaster and you have done all of the necessary homework to make a purchase. After scouring the internet you identify the single best toaster on the market and Amazon will deliver it right to your home for just $80 (free shipping). One problem, you want the toaster now! The Target in your town also has the same toaster for $80 while in a town just 20 miles away you can get it for $40. Do you drive to the get if half off?
A not-so-surprising majority would leap at the chance to save $50 and after all, its only 20 miles away.
Now lets talk about a Tesla. According to their website, a new Model 3 starts at $35,000 and there just happens to be a dealership right down the road offering Model 3’s for $35,000. Amazon won’t deliver this one, but there is a shop just 20 miles away that will you that engineering marvel for just $34,960! That is an astounding .114% discount. Do you drive?
Once again, an astounding majority wouldn’t life a finger for that small of a discount.
But it is the same $40, right?
Unfortunately this is one of the most painful lessons we must learn. If we don’t we are doomed to overpay on EVERYTHING, especially college!
